Prairie – Raine E Poss, 87, died Sunday, July 8, 2001 at her home in Prairie. Services were held Tuesday, July 10, 2001 at Lawson Chapel Church of Christ with Minister Hoyet Hathcock officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in the Una community.

Mrs. Poss was a native of Fayette County, Alabama and the daughter of the late James Monroe Barnes and Mary Jane Fowler Barnes. She married Walter Howard Poss in 1931 and he preceded her in death on October 24, 1977. Mrs. Poss was a presser at Knickerbocker Mfg. for 18 years and was a member of Lawson Chapel Church of Christ. She was pre-deceased by her husband, two sons, Charles Gary Poss and Jimmy Poss and two grandchildren, Danny Roane and Renee Griggs.

Survivors include three daughters, Jane White of St. Petersburg, Florida, Betty Jo Bowen of West Point and Sandra Griggs of Okolona; four sons, Lucion Poss of Prairie, Ernie Poss of Aberdeen, Charles Poss of Aberdeen and Wallace Poss of Sevierville, Tennessee; two sisters, Vera B Poss of Prairie and Eula B Bridger of Prairie; 22 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Rodney McKnight, Ronald McKnight, David Poss, Kevin Wayne Poss, Greg Poss, Brain Poss, Johnny Poss, Ricky Poss, Dewayne Poss, Jerry Griggs, Jr. and Jacob Griggs. Honorary pallbearers were the Staff of North Mississippi Medical Hospice, Dr. Robert T Lott, Dr. T N Braddock and Dr. H M Lee.
